RatedLandlords ("we", "us") operates ratedlandlords.com. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and what rights you have over it under UK data protection law.
Account details you give us: name, email address, and password when you sign up, plus any verification details (like a postcode) used to confirm a review is genuine.
Content you submit: reviews, star ratings, and any comments you leave on a property.
Usage data: standard technical data like pages visited and device/browser type, collected to keep the site working properly.
To run your account and let you submit and manage reviews. To verify reviews are written by genuine tenants. To keep the site secure and improve how it works. To respond if you contact us.
We also use anonymised, aggregated review data — never your personal details or identity — to produce insights we sell to universities and accommodation operators (see our About page). A landlord or operator never sees your name or contact details, only the aggregated ratings and trends across many reviews.
We don’t sell your personal data. We share it only with the service providers who help us run the site (such as hosting and email delivery), under agreements that keep it protected, or where we’re required to by law.
We keep account and review data for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterwards in case it’s needed to resolve a dispute or meet a legal obligation. You can ask us to delete your account and personal data at any time.
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, and request a copy in a portable format. To exercise any of these, contact us at hello@ratedlandlords.com.
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, you can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
We use a small number of cookies to keep the site working (including the one that keeps you signed in) and to understand how it’s used. A cookie consent banner is on the build list before public launch.
